Vehicle description
Model history:
Words such as "Swedish tank" or "Swedish steel" are often used as a synonym for Volvo vehicles. The Volvo models of the 140 series are no exception. The 140 series was a mid-size car produced by Volvo and was launched in 1966. The second digit of the model number indicated the number of cylinders, the third the number of doors. Three variants were available: a two-door sedan (142), a four-door sedan (144) and a five-door station wagon (145). With this series, Volvo has successfully pushed safety and comfort to the fore as brand virtues. In 1974, the last Volvo of the 140 series finally rolled off the assembly line.
General information about the vehicle:
The Volvo offered for auction here is the model 144, which was first registered in 1972 with chassis number 315612 and, after consultation with the seller, has only 3 owners. A history can no longer be presented after consultation with the current owner - a checkbook is no longer available - but the mileage of this sedan should still be partially traceable. At the moment, the 144, which has already been restored over the years, does not have a valid inspection.
Exterior paint/paint/body:
The body of the Volvo sedan was repainted as part of the complete restoration of the vehicle. According to the seller, no gross inconsistencies can be discovered on the beige paint color, the chrome still shines as it should and all add-on parts on the exterior are completely preserved. Furthermore, no modifications deviating from the original condition can be discovered on the body. For a detailed overview of the condition of the exterior and the add-on parts of the body, we recommend reviewing the meaningful series of pictures of the Volvo 144.
Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:
The wheels are original steel rims with chrome hubcaps, on which the "Volvo" lettering is embossed and which are equipped with tires of the Continental brand - in a condition of 70-90% estimated by the seller. The current owner of this sedan also attests to 70-90% of their new condition to the brakes and he is not aware of any inconsistencies in the chassis area.
Interior:
Blue fabric seats present themselves in the interior of this Volvo 144 from first registration in 1972. Gross damage or even missing parts are not to be complained about in the interior - in 2022, the seats were reupholstered by a saddlery, so they are also clean in condition. The equipment of this Volvo includes, among other things, a contemporary radio. All displays and controls are in perfect working order and, according to the seller, there are no complaints to be made in this regard. For a detailed overview of the interior, please refer to the other photos.
Mileage:
186,370 kilometers of mileage can be seen from the speedometer in the instrument cluster of this Volvo 144 - according to the seller, this mileage can be approximately traced.
Engine:
From a displacement of 2.0 liters, the B20-called in-line four-cylinder engine gets this Volvo 144 82 hp out - via a 4-speed manual transmission, the power is brought to the rear wheels and thus to the road. According to the current owner, the last service work on the car was carried out in July 2020.
Subsoil:
After consulting with the seller, the seller states that the underside of the Volvo is in good shape with no inconsistencies and that this sedan is in a correspondingly clean condition due to the complete restoration and the seats revised by a saddlery in 2022. With this Volvo, the future owner will be able to reel off many more kilometers while feeling the solidity and robustness of the vehicle in all areas.
