Vehicle description
Model history:
At the end of 1978, Porsche introduced the 924 Turbo: externally, it was recognizable by the four small air intakes above the front bumper, which served to cool the turbocharger. Other changes in detail included a rear spoiler, an additional air intake on the hood and the 15-inch wheels, which were a consequence of the reinforced brakes and their need for ventilation. Another striking feature of the 924 Turbo was the two-tone paintwork with the contrasting flanks, which was available as an option. The turbocharger from KKK helped the 924 to an impressive 170 hp, which even grew to 177 hp a good year after its market launch. After almost 12,500 units produced, production of the 924 Turbo ended in the summer of 1982.
General information about the vehicle:
A Porsche 924 Turbo from the first registration in 1979 - i.e. from the 1st series - is offered for auction here. This partially restored 924 Turbo with chassis number 9249401345 is an import from Switzerland, which has only 2 owners. - The history of the coupé can be traced. The seller assumes the so-called matching numbers, and the Porsche should also have a fairly up-to-date German TÜV and an H-certificate. In addition, there is a classic car report that gives this Porsche 924 Turbo a condition grade of 2.
Exterior paint/paint/body:
Visually the eye-catcher is definitely the two-tone paint in red and silver: This gives the Porsche an eye-catching appearance on the roads. According to the seller, repainting cannot be ruled out - but accident-free operation is confirmed by the current owner. Furthermore, the current owner states that the car has a well-preserved original condition in terms of appearance and modifications deviating from the original condition are not to be mentioned. In addition, all body attachments are in good condition. For more details, please have a look at the other photos and videos
Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:
Tires from the Pirelli brand, together with original Porsche 924 Turbo alloy wheels in multi-spoke design, provide the further visual appearance. The seller certifies that the tires and brakes have an assessment of the condition of 70-90%, and according to him, there are no inconsistencies in the area of the chassis.
Interior:
The interior of this 924 Turbo exudes typical 1970s flair with its partial leather seats and tartan fabric centre panels in red/blue. In view of the vehicle's age of over 40 years, the interior is apparently in a well-kept condition - the seller mentions that the dashboard is in good condition and is electrically available as an optional extra. Exterior mirrors, electr. Window regulators and a rear wiper count. Furthermore, there is a cassette radio on board this Porsche and the 3-spoke sports steering wheel and the manual gear knob are covered with leather. Gross damage or even missing parts are not to be complained about in this interior. For a detailed overview of the interior, we refer to the large number of photos of the 924 Turbo.
Mileage:
Green is the dashboard numeral color of this 924 Turbo, and the 5-digit speedometer shows a mileage of 97,283 kilometers. It is also worth mentioning that all displays in the instrument cluster work perfectly.
Engine:
The 2.0-liter engine is turbocharged and produces a whopping 170 hp in this 924 Turbo, which is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission (in which the 1st gear is on the left). Last service work took place in November 2022, and according to the seller, the technology is in very good shape.
Subsoil:
In view of the age of the vehicle, the underbody of the vehicle can be attested to be in good condition - the seller states that the underside of the Porsche is rust-free so far. At that time, even a Porsche 911 SC with 188 hp was hardly more powerful than him: The Porsche 924 Turbo is an old-school turbo sports car with decent turbo thrust, which also convinces with its typical 1970s color combination and, according to the seller, is a rare version due to its lack of a sunroof. Technically and optically preserved in good original condition, the Porsche offered here is now waiting for its new owner.
